I totally got tagged!

By Amanda.

The rules:
1. Post the rules on your blog.
2. Tell 7 random things about yourself.
3. Tag 7 people at the end of your post.
4. Pass on the tag.

Here goes:
1. I really love the time I spend in the pool.  Yes, it's hard work, but it's like the world slows down and I have "me" time inside my head.  I somehow manage to lose count of reps and laps, but I have time to sort out my issues and look up at the sky.  It's so relaxing even though I am working my ass off.  Y'all should have seen the sky over the pool on Monday.  With the storm blowing in it looked as if you were looking through bubbles.  I never would have taken the time to look up Monday afternoon without being in the pool.

2. On a related, less philosophical note, I fucking hate it when people tell me "Hey. you're losing weight" like it's some kind of fucking encouragement.  Look, I know I am fat.  OK?  Have been my whole life.  MAYBE, just MAYBE I'm comfortable with that.  MAYBE I am not trying to lose weight.  MAYBE I am just trying to keep my joints healthy and the weight loss is a good side effect.  Just tell me you think I look nice, ok?  Or even that I look better.  But for Christ's sake don't assume I am trying to lose weight and you're encouraging me.  Because I'm really not.  And it pisses me off.

3. I am super excited to go shopping on Friday.  I love Black Friday.  Mostly because I love a good deal and I am not averse to a little elbowing to get one.  The problem is that I am mostly done with my shopping already, so there's really very little I need o get on Friday.

4.  I have a secret coffee drink that I make at work.  I think they're wondering where all the cocoa is going....  Homemade mocha, try it yourself: 1 packet hot cocoa mix, 2-3 little containers of vanilla creamer, 3 sugars, and fill the cup with regular coffee.  Stir.  It tastes better than $tarbuck$ and it's free since the Dean's Office provides the coffee and cocoa!

5. I hate doing lab work.  First of all, I am a terrible technical scientist.  I know HOW to do the experiments, but my hands just can't do it the right way.  I'd much rather spend my time teaching.  Way more fun.  What sucks is that most people can't get it throught their skulls that not all of us want to do research all the time.  Pressure.

6. Although I am the opposite of a morning person, when I lived in Fresno, I used to love to wake up at 4 and listen to the farm report on the radio.  There's really something energizing about the dark of the early morning, and the chill in the air.  But the hours between 6 and 9 am are really pointless.  Snooze.

7. I am far too stressed out.  Just writing this was really relaxing.  Which tells me I need to dial it way the F back.  I really hope this weekend helps.

And because I feel like tagging people: Amanda, wB, Pamibe, Oddybobo, Mrs.W, Amanda, and Rich, you're it!

Alrighty then!! :)

And I hear you about the "your losing weight!" thing - bah. So I have been stressed to the gills and unable to eat for 6 months. Not like this was my goal, dang it. Shaddup.

I am NOT a good swimmer and don't do it often, but your description of the pool and how you experience your time there was relaxing in and of itself. Cool!

The farm report used to come in at 6:00a when I was young. There's a continuity, an earthy feel to them that I love. But then, I AM a morning person! ;)

As soon as I have time...tomorrow maybe?

I'm done...and in the time frame promised. The world will end soon, I'm sure.

Well, I haven't seen you in a while so I don't know what you look like now, but the last time I saw you, you were looking great. Now, since you know my DH you know I just probably prefer the tan color you had too because I not so secretly despise that pasty white pink thing he has going. If I ever tell you, you look good, its not because I think you're trying to lose weight but that I just think you have a brighter glow or something and I'm all about people getting healthier (as opposed to getting thinner). So, if I pissed you off ever, I'm sorry! I don't care what size you are as long as you're happy and healthy!
