well kiss my grits....

"A site that has a Link Popularity Score of 1,000-5,000 is considered average. A site with a Link Popularity Score of 20,000 is considered popular. Sites with a Link Popularity Score above 100,000 are Internet "Icons"."

well, ok.  great.  Check this:
Link Popularity Total 303,763

Does that make me triple iconic?  I find this highly bogus, especially as:
1) I am no icon.  Try Glenn Reynolds.  Iconoclast., sure,  Icon, No way.
2) The Google hit was zero.  Yeah, as if you know, more than half my traffic was fake.

Yeah, I was trying to be sarcastic on my post because I damn sure ain't an ICON. Straight White Gut and VMAN and some of those places that get a couple of thousand REAL hits a day are the ICONS. Hell, half of mine or from Google..somebody looking for fresh FXXXed 13 year old indian girls and stuff like that.

yeah, I don't get it either. I'm triple iconic too. And that's not me for sure. Most of my traffic is google stuff... people googling weird crap like "boy pee jello".

I'm almost popular - 18,500. Which makes pretty much zero sense

I thought maybe it was rolling up the whole mu.nu domain, but no; mu.nu gets 4,929,649. My blog gets something like 600,000 across three different names (ai.mu.nu/ambientirony.mu.nu/ambientirony.com).

ace.mu.nu 1,822,325
mypetjawa.mu.nu 1,436,304
instapundit.com 6,877,249

Hmm. Okay, so it kind of works, but their metrics are off by a factor of 50 or so.

I think they fixed it. Caltech girl gets a score of about 1300 now. Just average.

heh. You're more than average! Yeah. The link popularity tool pulls data from each search engine remotely -- so we go thru some crazy periods where sites will be very high or very low. Generally works itself out in a few days...Or, I send a programmer in to see what the heck is going on. Enjoy.
